We will use this blog as a forum to discuss assigned readings and writing assignments. I will also frequently post announcements, schedule changes, and opportunities for extra credit.
Course Description
In this class, we will read literature that explores identity and the relationship between identity and community. The course is divided into five units; in the first four units, we will read works that address age, gender, class, and race. In the final unit, we will read works that deal explicitly with social protest. In this class, you will be expected to read critically and analytically and to write thesis-driven papers using primary (and for your research project) secondary sources.
